Ugh. I’m trying to get back into the swing of things but it just hasn’t been working.

…all right, that’s just frustration talking, because at least that’s how it feels. I did eat six hundred more calories a day on average, which is something, and my Saturday weight ended up the same. I’m thinking I’ll transition away from using just the Saturday weight, though. I weigh myself daily, so I can use an average of my weight each day to get a number for the week. (By that metric, my highest weight this year was the week ending 3/13, where I averaged 210.6. This week the average was still 207.0.)

I tried taking pictures for you all today but they just aren’t working out. My photo-taking skills are failing… I’m going to have to get practice somehow. I’m also starting to dislike my camera on its own merits: it’s an HP Photosmart 315 that I’ve had for about a decade now, and it seems mighty lo-res compared to what I’d like.

Anyway. Notice how my calorie budget and metabolism keep rising, both at their highest this year. I’ve got to stay motivated and work harder than ever if I want to stay on track. Help me out, guys!

207.

Actual loss: Two pounds

Yeah, that week turned out about as poorly as I expected. This post is short because it’s late and I still haven’t got any momentum today. Maybe I’ll do a midweek post to make up for it, if I can get up to it.

209.

No video or anything this week guys—I’ve been kind of scattered. But I suppose you can guess that by me posting a couple of days late.

Average budgeted: 3340 calories/day
Average eaten: 3571 calories/day
DP calculated metabolism: 2863 calories/day
Expected gain: about a pound and a half
Actual loss: 1 lb

Ack.

Pete over at gitbigger recently tweeted about losing weight even at 3000 calories a day — well, I guess that makes two of us this last week.

I can already tell this week isn’t going to be that great for gaining either. Since Saturday’s 209 weigh-in I’ve been holding at 207 and not eating well. I’m inclined to blame this on some subconscious depression after being dumped this weekend, but my drive’s been kind of going downhill anyway lately. Tired. Last year I worked on a sort of regimented schedule where I worked on things hour by hour and was good at getting to bed on time… this year instead I’ve just set myself to one task a day, and while that may be good as far as getting more work done, it’s not so good on the keeping track of time front—I think I’ve been to bed after eleven every day this week, and with the alarm going off at 4:30 in the morning, that’s not really conducive to a well-functioning tiger’s mind.

Bah. After eleven now, too. I’m off.

Love to you all.

210.

It’s 210 on the official Saturday weigh-in but I’ve actually been at 211 around the past few days, which I think is a record for me; if I hit 212, I’m pretty certain it will be. Don’t want to rest on laurels, though… I’d really like to get back on track: since being sick a month ago I’ve been on average eating over my metabolism (mostly) but not over my calorie budget: if I can beat 250 by the end of this year, I really want to, but my average rate so far this year will only get me a little more than half a pound a week.

Luckily most of my intake is becoming—well, not habit certainly, but routine at least. All I have to do is make sure the calories add up.

Average budgeted: 3602 calories/day
Average eaten: 3336 calories/day
DP calculated metabolism: 3129 calories/day
Expected gain: about half a pound
Actual gain: 1 lb

Last week I made egg rolls, which came out pretty awesome—and not just because the recipe made about three times as many as I thought it would. I’ll have to post you guys my recipe later when I get an opportunity. I’m half-tempted to start a recipe section on this site, but I don’t quite feel in the mood for subjecting more random Googling grandmas to my gut up there in the corner than necessary—I get enough hits on random food keywords as is—so for now at least I’ll still be posting on Recipezaar. But I’ve really been enjoying putting together recipes lately, so I might set up a separate site just for them sometime.

I’ve also been thinking about starting video posts again. Maybe there’ll be one up next week, if my hair cooperates. (I’m such a vain beast.)

Love to you all.
