Another week, more progress. Spent most of the week at 210 actually; going to try and put in the extra effort to see if I can finally break that barrier this week.

Average budgeted: 3712 calories/day
Average eaten: 3444 calories/day :(
DP calculated metabolism: 3283 calories/day
Expected gain: a third of a pound
Actual gain: 1 lb

I wanna apologize to y’all tonight since I’ve been feeling like this blog is mostly turning out to be a stats dump. I suppose it says something about my attitude and the kind of person that I am that I don’t really have much to say on a subject that most of you all take pretty seriously. Years and years ago I used to be the kind of person that could write pretty lengthy blog posts just about every day; I don’t know if it was just falling out of the habit of doing that, or me growing out of the angsty period of my late teens and early twenties and becoming a less emotionally swayed person altogether, or probably some combination of factors, but I need to work on really writing again, and putting my personality into it.

I suppose it doesn’t help that I feel kind of outside of “gainer society”. I keep busy enough that I don’t feel the need to start new conversations with folk, and in turn I become obscure enough that I don’t get sought out. So the “gaining conversation” skills that would help me write these posts have been kind of atrophying…. or so I’d conjecture, at least.

Anyway, it’s getting late and I’ve ranted on enough for tonight, so I’ll sign off for now. If there’s anything you all would like to hear about from me here, don’t hesitate to leave a comment and let me know.

I love you all.

Well, made back almost everything I lost while sick. Still haven’t gotten back into the swing of eating though, so while I was doing better than last week, I didn’t make any extra progress. Here’s hoping.

Average budgeted: 3720 calories/day
Average eaten: 3258 calories/day
DP calculated metabolism: 3251 calories/day
Expected gain: not worth mentioning
Actual gain: 3 lb

Crazy stuff. My average metabolism for the year so far (by my own calculation, not DietPower’s) is 3178 calories/day. My BMR/RMR should be just over 2000, so I’m not sure where all that extra energy is going. Ah well.

Here’s some pictures for you:

Pinchin' an inch

See you all next week.

So last week I was sick. Nothing too serious; mostly sinus congestion. But being moderately miserable kept me from wanting to think about eating so most of my between-meal eating just didn’t happen.

Average budgeted: 3462 calories/day
Average eaten: 2982 calories/day
DP calculated metabolism: 2996 calories/day
Expected loss: A fraction of a pound
Actual loss: 4 lb

I believe the appropriate emoticon is D:

I doubt that being sick jumped my metabolism up to 5000 calories a day; I’m sure part of this was just because I wasn’t at a “full” weight—even though the official weigh-in is Saturday morning and I don’t usually eat much Friday evening. I don’t know. But it feels like a huge setback. I want to make it back up… hopefully sooner than before.

I was going to post new pics for y’all this week but it might take a bit till I don’t look sick anymore—I’ve got the whole red nose thing going on, for one! Maybe next time.

Cross your fingers for me that this week goes better. See y’all.

Stats for week ending 2/6/2010:

Average budgeted: 3427 calories/day
Average eaten: 3650 calories/day
DP calculated metabolism: 2988 calories/day
Expected gain: a little over a pound
Actual gain: 1 lb

Workday meals (~4100 calories)

  • Breakfast: Powdered donuts, honey buns.
  • Work snack: Wheat thins, grape juice, potato chips, M&Ms.
  • Lunch: Potato lasagna.
  • Home snack: Italian bread w/ vinaigrette.
  • Dinner: Linguine w/ olives.

Well, I’ve got to say January was pretty encouraging. Here’s hoping I can keep it up for February!

So, last week I mentioned a potato lasagna. I made a recipe and it came out pretty well, I think: nothing fancy on the flavor front, just a sort of good solid food. But I think the linguine came out even better: I’ve really been into olives lately and this pasta with a sauce of crushed olives, garlic, basil, oregano, and red pepper in olive oil was just really fantastic for that.

As for what I mentioned last week about trying to cut down on the necessity for sweets, I’m hoping to get some of that improved this week: I cut that sugared stuff out of my work stuff and will be going for something more in the cracker line instead. At least I’ll try; with those I find it’s harder to eat as much. Ah well. It’s getting late, so I’m off to bed.
