196; Holiday weight loss.
Goal for January
All right, so now that the holiday’s over and my computer’s working again to plan calories I can try and get back on the wagon here.
Of course, since I’m just under my weight of 197 from last month now, I didn’t even make it close to last month’s goal of being 203 by this time. Goal for next month is 200.
Holiday weight loss
Some people have asked me why I normally lose weight over holidays and vacations. At base the problem is just that it’s a disruption of my normal routine. I gain best on my regular workdays, where I generally eat two decent-sized meals that, when I’m gaining, are planned in advance to have enough calories to gain.
On my days off, I’m generally more inactive than usual; I end up less hungry, and less interested in getting up and making food. Additionally buying enough food for seven days straight is more expensive than I care to spend…
On holidays with feasting involved there’s the extra factor that the meals are made by and for other folk, so a lot of things are out of my control. I may be left with side dishes since I’m vegetarian; the food is not made with my calorie budget in mind; and, of course, I have to share. ;)
Most people, as far as I understand, manage to gain over holidays due to overindulgence: they stuff themselves. But as for me, even with abundance of food I’ve never really had the appetite to gain by stuffing. That, of course, has been one of my biggest obstacles to gaining in itself—next to financial difficulties—unlike most gainers I come across whose impediments are mainly psychological.
For those who are interested, my Thanksgiving dinner consisted of half a plate of mashed potatoes and half a plate of sweet potatoes, courtesy of my roommate (whom some of you know as the lovely and talented fantasyfanficboi).
Picture posts
I’ve been wanting to do more picture posts here lately; even though the progress is small, I know it’s what bring you all around. I was planning to post pics here this week (ripped pants, you know?) but I lost my camera’s USB cable over vacation, so I can’t pull any pictures. A buddy of mine picked it up from the hotel room, but he lives a couple of hours away so it may be a while before he gets the opportunity to bring it ’round.
